Do you fondue?  If you do you know just how much fun it is.  My excitement always rises as I pull out my favorite fondue set. There is something special about everyone gathering around a pot of fondue to share a meal.  The pace is slow but conversation is lively.  Laughter erupts as your friend loses yet another mushroom cap in the boiling broth.

The truth is that of all my favorite ways to entertain, fondue is one of the tops.  There is something about it that creates an intimate experience every time.

Part of it is that fondue is unique.  When you host a fondue party, people will remember it.  After all, who else goes to that much trouble to create a unique and memorable experience for their family and friends?

Of course, to pull the fondue experience off flawlessly, you need the right fondue set!  Just any one won’t do!  You need a fondue set that is perfectly matched to the evening you have in mind!

Here are some things to think about when selecting fondue sets.

The Type of Fuel Required

The type of fuel needed will be a major determinate in your decision of which fondue set is right for you.  You can go with the traditional sterno fondue set or the more modern electric fondue set.   Both have their benefits, but the electric is a far better option if you are planning on serving meat or your favorite cheese fondue recipe.  On the other hand, all a chocolate fondue set really needs is a tea light.

The Size of the Fondue Set

How big of a fondue set do you need?  Are you planning a dinner party for 8 or are you thinking of something for just you and your sweetie?  While you and your spouse don’t need a lazy Susan fondue pot, it can be very convenient when serving a crowd.

What Type of Fondue are you having?

Is your pot going to be used for cheese, meat and dessert?  Or do you just plan on serving one course?  This can be a major factor in which pot or pots you decide to go with.  I love to use my cheese fondue set but I hate having to wash out a pot while guest are there!  There are absolutely fantastic pots that are meant just for serving chocolate fondue that don’t work so well for meat or cheese.   You can also get a chocolate fondue fountain if you really want to make a splash.

Do You have any Special Ideas in Design?

Are you dreaming of a red fondue pot?  How about one with a cow theme?  How about one that connects via the USB port on your computer?  Believe it or not you can get them all!

The Fondue Accessories Included

Do you need fondue forks and plates? How about small containers for dipping sauces?  It is not always possible to get all of these in a fondue set but its certainly something to think about.
